The Irene S. Scully Family Foundation invests in Education Programs, Youth Development Programs, and Community Resource Centers that provide direct services to economically disadvantaged communities. The foundation is dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations in the greater Bay Area that are aligned with our mission and values. Grants typically range from $5-$100k and meet our funding criteria (below).

EDUCATION

The Irene S. Scully Family Foundation believes that an exceptional, well-rounded education is paramount to improving the quality of life for anyone. We make grants to support both public and private elementary and secondary schools (K-12), as long as they serve an economically disadvantaged student population. Educational programs should strengthen and enhance academic programming, art and cultural instruction, and quality of teaching within schools in order to meet the holistic needs of every student.

Programs may include: language arts and literacy, writing workshops, visual and performing arts, cultural enrichment, sports, field trips, tutoring and mentoring, college preparation, career guidance, ongoing professional development for teachers and staff, and campus safety.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Youth development programs provide enrichment opportunities for children to learn, explore, and build skills that can create the type of solid foundation needed for a successful adulthood. We support development programs that strengthen the lives of economically disadvantaged youth by giving them opportunities to cultivate self-esteem, leadership abilities, and creative and practical life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

Programs may include: mentoring and counseling, homework assistance and tutoring, leadership workshops, visual and performing arts, sports and recreation, community service, college and career guidance.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTERS

Community Resource Centers develop self-sufficiency and leadership in low-income communities. The Irene S. Scully Family Foundation supports exceptional Community Resource Centers that inspire positive change in their communities and provide services, resources, and opportunities for families in need of help.

Programs may include: family health and nutrition, parenting and life skills, education, employment guidance and financial planning, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, youth and adult literacy and education, youth enrichment, tutoring and homework assistance, early intervention and treatment of child abuse.
