GRANTMAKING
After five years of Bay Area-based and international grantmaking, the Irene S. Scully Family Foundation’s Board of Directors has revised its grantmaking strategy as an opportunity to further refine its philanthropic goals. As a result, the Foundation will implement several changes to our program areas starting with our Fall 2010 cycle.
As of September 2010, the Foundation will dedicate the majority of its grantmaking to support improvements in educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged students living in West Contra Costa County and Alameda County. Please visit our Education program area page for a full description of the Foundation’s eligibility requirements.
The Foundation will also develop a Scholarship Program that will support its first group of students in the 2011-2012 school year. Please visit our Scholarship Program page for updates and information in the upcoming months.
The Foundation will continue to support its partner grantees working in Haiti. Please visit our Haiti program area page for further information. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited funding requests for programs in Haiti.
Finally, the Foundation will dedicate a small percentage of its annual grantmaking to Special Projects and programs that may not meet the funding criteria set forth in the aforementioned program areas. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited funding requests for Special Projects funding. Only organizations that have been invited by the Foundation will be eligible to apply. Please visit our Special Projects page for additional information and updates.
The Foundation gives approximately $4M in grants annually. The Foundation has four grant cycles per year. Application deadlines can be found on our Grantmaking Calendar page.
We kindly request that all interested applicants read through our various Program Area pages, Grants Process page, and Alignment and Funding Requirements page prior to contacting the Foundation’s staff with inquiries or requests.
